I want to congratulate myself on finishing a difficult and dangerous job. I,ve also finished the story--a first for me. I give rocky a couple of atta boys, for communicating his concerns about the puppy next door. I do belief, in a mindmeld between the three of us..

If you reshape your vocabulary--you will reshape your thinking. Do it in a positive way, you will find yourself more positive and with positive friends... And who knows, you may even reshape someones life.. Merry Christmas to all! PS. AK is no longer in his freezer-- I BELIVE spokanimal came and got him last nite--It was bitter cold.. remembering the Jenkins
I,m trying to write. I spend a lot of time thinking about the past. I don,t know if this is true for all older people, but i suspect it is.
Many years ago, i accompanied sheryl and visited her great grandma. I think..The old women was the oldest canadian living. I was impressed with her. Sig, was the only one who could speak, as she was back in Sweden, she spoke swedish, a sventeen year old girl about to go on a great adventure..America or bust! What a trip she took,, Can we come close to it?

AK gets help
This has been a cold week.
Ak owner showed up and they yelling was loud and nasty. I had the temarity, after t-day to walk over at 3pm walkinto their yard, hook up AK and go for a walk around the block. AK is like a filly. I laughed when he bucked front and back, fell down and rolled on the leash, got up and stopped to smell the ground, Rocky was off leash,but stays close. AK, has never been outside, and started enjoying himself going for a walk!
A pick-up cruised by -slowly- turned around and left. We continued our walk...ar riving home -to a barrage of profanities from the air force guy, who was gone while his puppy suffered.. He said he had 4 security cameras, and he was calling the cops, and I was going to jail!! Praise the Lord, i,ve been trying to contact Spokanimal, but everyone was on Holliday!! He put his dog AK back in the kennel, I waited...
Soon they're was a knock on the door, I welcomed two of Spokane fineist, into my home.. When I told them what was going on, they they said they would check and be back, presumably, to haul me off... They never returned, I noted, there was now a red power cord, going to the kennel. the next day, the power cord was gone... AK, showed up, and i took him in.... An hour later, a knock on the door. Did I have AK, yes i did, but i couldn,t take him back as i as now restrained from there property. the owner had called-bla,bla,bla. AK, had left. They borrowed my leash and returned AK, back into the kennel. I explained, that they were welcome to come get their dog, and had done so a half a dozen times.
Why was it impossible for them to tie a rope on AK, when working in the garage- he,s a PUPPY.. Anyway, I noted, his collar had finally been loosened...
Presently, we are in a deep freeze, I called Spokanimal, to protect myself. Yesterday, after spending anoyher nite in the deep freeze, I checked on him as usual, he came out of his kennel..so i knew he was all right and facing a bitterly cold nite. The weatherman said bring your pets in!
Last nite rocky kept looking at the kennel and then looking at me! Normally, he touches my hand with his nose to get my attention, but he uses his nose to point at what he wants. I finally went and checked, AK didn,t come out, but i,m sure he was in there. This morning, thrusday, doesn,t appear to be in the kennel. The man? has returned to work..AK is either in the garage, dead, or hopefully, at spokanimal. Iv,e put my balls on the line and I wish him well,, If he is fixed now, he will make a good pet for a strong, persistant and patient parent (owner)..
Postscript: the male cop who did the talking-looked familiar. I kept looking at him, while we were talking. Couldn,t quite place him (i,m not cherry). The next day, i realized i was talking to the new Chief of police. I had heard that he was riding with his officers. Seems like a nice reasonable guy.. The female officers, were very nice. They must laugh alot while they,re crying.. For the first time I thought it would be fun and an great career in law enforcement.. I had personally charged the chief of police with the safety of a puppy. They saved a puppy.. i hope.

AK Con't
The Lord does work in mysterious ways, AK just showed up.. Earlier i noticed he was free and sitting in the sun. I assumed the master was in the shop...So, i,m leaving him on his leash.. so if they want him, they can get him..I,m going to Sues for thanksgiving...have a good and blessed day...

AK---Con't
The scene has been played..in the most unexpected way...I took rocky for his sanity/mine walk--when we returned..it was gathering dark. Still, i waited-for dark--i wanted to see if any lights were on inside--not that it mattered, she had come and got her dog off my leash,and stuck him in his kennel. Tonite was 24 hrs outside again. If she had left--she may not be back by friday. Or Worse! Mon? It looked like she was in fact gone.. AK was glad to see me- rocky waited--I put a leash on...The plan was to walk AK around the block and get some energy out..that way he would settle down, eat, warm up annd sleep..
Everything, was going nicely, rocky likes being off leash, esp when AK is on leash... AK is resigned, rocky understands... We had walked the opposite way around the block and were approaching AK's house.. Suddenly, the door opened and she was just leaving---I wirhled around with AK and stepped behind a truck, her truck was facing ...use about 10 ft away... My plan was to wait until she left..then make a run to our house.. We quickly made our way around the corner to my house...
Guess what happened??, We just got in and SHE suddenly stopped in front of the house. I yelled comon in , i had just sat down and gave AK a bisquit... He was doing his best to eat minus his baby teeth..and was calmly sitting an munching..
I assumed that she came to get him, she thought i had him all day and wanted him back cause her husband and parents were coming for T-day... I asked her, when her hubby would be home--she looked uncertain--
I haven,t looked, its going to get to 2 degrees this weekend.. May the Lord give me the wisdom--to-- save this dog, from uncaring and too busy owners...They cannot be to blame---Amen..

The Puppy next door
I want to wish all my friends a happy thanksgiving....I,m being challenged by rocky and a pit bull puppy nextdoor.. The problem is that his owner leaves him completely alone 24 --7 .. he,s fed once a day i believe..He may freeze to death this winter, if i don,t help.. treacherous water...Whenever he escapes he comes here..i,m the only other person he knows..This dog is a black staffordshire terry.....AKA..pit bull..he is so cute, he,s jet black. has lost all his puppy teeth, breaking chicken wire to escape--no more --he has trouble eating a dog biscuit--but chews on everything..wants one of my shoes..He is completely undisaplined..he not have anyone to correct him...he is all alone.. his nails are sharp and have never been trimmed...His owners will not take care of him....I went over the last below freezing nite and got him..she is popping pills. He was at my house until yesterday at 2pm (24) hrs when she came and got him.. i left him on a leash while i picked up a free turkey (thanks spokane) he was gone when i returned...; he,s back in kennel 4x6--has been since she picked him up..IF she leaves and her air force husband doesn,t return i,m going to go and get him..I,m worried about rocky because he needs his shots updated and i dont have the money...Rocky hates this puppy but he wants me to go get him...I,m not going to let him freeze to death from starvation thru neglect...I don,t want to get permission to take care of him...I,ve called the police and talked to animal control..They say its to early. he has to be outside in freezing weather 3 days..what a way to live...he,s been in this cage since he was 8 wks old..only taken out to show off..Eventually, i,ll have to talk to this guy...i,m not going to be surprised if he tells me to butt out!...because he is toughening him up.. the puppys name is AKU..i call him AK, they call him "a coup" which means --to cut off the head.. So lets all pray for this puppy and be thankfull for what we have, what we are given and what we can give...

a little about the 40,s
if u were born in the 40,s u listened to wind up music on the victrola, your first radio listening to nitetime shows "the shadow knows" and others, a really good time to be a kid. Every one adopted a dad-less kid. in my case my uncle stan took me fishing. the greatest fisherman ever. He took my sisters out and caught 40 bass, filled the trunk ..amazing!! my uncle Clem was my unknown spiritual mentor. He was full blood lakota Sioux.. He use to make indian fry bread in the morning on a two burner wood stove..later they got electricity. But i know how to correctly cook on a wood stove, and how to manage a campfire.. I,ve always missed him.. We went shoeless , all summer long,fishing,swimming and poking around. Not a care in the world..
I think,my uncle Stan taught me how to think-he was an engineer. My uncle Clem shaped my heart, my feelings, the final decsion.
I worried about polio..one year everyone was getting polio, it was really scary. I couldn,,t get into line fast enough to get vaccinated..there was wooping cough, diptheria, and chicken pox. I think i got it,it was bad but u survived..Polio was awful!--to watch your friends go from total mobility to a lung,a wheel chair and finally, metal contraptions to walk. I,ve never been so scared..that one summer, before the vaccine.

Mushrooming in NW.
Rocky and I have been having a wonderful time in the woods.. We,ve been picking Boleteus Edulus..AKA King Bolete.. The darling of french cuisine...I,ve been picking about 10 to 15 #,s/ day. I,m drying them all.. in the spring i pick morels and dry them .. Last year Holly and I sold our morels at christmas.. I think we got one hundred eighty dollars this year.. by adding my boletes we might tripple the value..Makes for a great goal and great eating and a fun christmas
Boletes, like other mushrooms have a preferred micro habitat. Most mushrooms grow in edge habitats which may be only 1 to 3 feet wide and going maybe 10 feet.. in the case of boletes they like to grow on a grasy,slope.,where it is dry but close to mossy wet..I also believe that bollets "Like being stepped on" I always thought that puffballs use stepping on as they,re primary means of dispersal of their spores.. I didn,t know that large mushrooms use this technique also. Boletes have a short stem, compared to their width example say 2x6".... Large mushrooms need a lot of water close by.. boletes animals eat boletes and step on them. They,re color goes from off white--just breaking thru and then turn dark golden brown. when fully exposed. Boletes, are very visable when the edge is broken off,, thus advertising to being eaten.. at this stage.. Boletes are called stone mushrooms. because of their color shape and smoothness.. So, if you see me poking a rock...I,m not crazy, bolets are soft, rocks are hard.. When you poke a rock in a ditch and it gives--Aha! !

Check and make sure you understand the differance between deductibles, premiums and fica (retirement.. All these impacts will have to be managed by You..
Winning by increments

I started walking, because I promised.. Ive gone fom my normal weight 228#,s to 192# which I think is a good weight for me being 70...I,m no longer flabby from rapid weight loss.. Rocky has also greatly benifited, he is now a magnificent mature male..this from the people...with a huge luving heart..I am proud!

one more reason to move from spokane.wa.
.. i,m seriously considering moving back down towards Portland.Or. Spokane is usually north of the jet stream for 3 or 4 months a year. but For some reason now Spokane was north of the jet stream for : oct, nov, dec, jan, feb, march, april, may and this year june except.for the 28,29 and 30th. The plants will not grow until 55 to 60 degrees and they need 85 to 110 growth degree days..I believe we had 3 days in june and was hot july, august, and half septseptember. That means, we totaled aproximately 78 consecutive growing days. Not enougth, for corn and tomatoes or me
Well it seems it,s always cold/dry or hot/dry in spokane.. Today it is raining enough to wet the road.. It,s amazing, storm after storm going by spokane.. You can see lightning and hear booms--all 5 miles away...Strangely, we seem to have cool air flowing downriver off of Lake Couer de lane and the mtns... all nice and good in the summer but year around we have a heat bubble over the spokane area...so we have delayed springs... In checking the mean monthy temp and number of "growth degree days" comparing bellingham, portland, and the tri-cities, it is apparent that Spokane is too cold for tomatoes and corn some years. If we north of the Jet stream, we enjoy canadian weather,,,

ARE YOU A US CITIZEN ??? insulting! i stopped in a small town, a local pointed out the border at first i couldnt see it.. then i realized that the long red train (seemed to go on forever) was in fact the concrete barrier; much like hwy divider-but 20 ft high . he no longer crossed over.. i myself got the treatment... the town is rotting,their must be 6 motels closed.. its almost like the police et al. are chasing the last dollar---half the houses were abandoned.. for them-the only way out of Town is their thumb or a coffin...on the other hand the cartels are now killing and kidnapping on our side of the border. i left I 10 at van horn tX and headed south for Del Rio, TX on st rt 90. at marfa, TX i stopped to mail a letter.. actually, their were about 4 bikes ,college type, a sure sign of yuppies their we weren't any Hispanics around and the town was prospering. it was part of a hotel complex ..i asked how much for a rm---145$/nite...i had pd 26$ the nite before queen bed etc stunning!! 50 mi north?? my first wasp town..of course the local sheriff had to ck out my USS minnow.. 10 ft and floats (almost) behind my van. people don't know what to make of me? i haft to laugh my passport is a clean drivers lic and a college ed. don't forget--- tail lites, lic plate etc---any excuse will do! i left for marathon, tx. strange things started to happen--i saw a blimp in the sky. first, i thought it was free-then it disappeared later it reappeared--i was relieved. it was tethered it is only a spy drone.. WHO DO u think its collecting info on? HUH!! on both sides of the rd. a lane of gravel--one side is some kind of fiber optic cable, which requires some kind of relay/power station--funny they always come in twos.. more later...dad

every thing is screwed up!?
I lost my credit card- so i ordered a new one . in the meantime my phone was shutnoff by virgin--i pay by credit card.. then rocky jumped into the river n struck a broken bottle--severly cutting his leg..i got the bleeding stopped--but not before my liv rm rug was ruined.. i wrapped his leg tightly n went to bed 11pm..got up early his foot was swollen 2X. i took him to the vet who wanted 350$--i went home., got my supplies ready.. his cut had quit bleeding..TYJ.. I wrapped his leg firmly-- cut the top off a sock n slid it over his foot n foreleg..puttin pressure on both. told rocky to leave it alone--which he did for 3 days.. Now he,s in charge keeping it clean--a really nasty scar is forming. my carpet is ruined. Rocky did not bleed out.. I,m thankful his achilles tendon was missed.. i love his independent spirit--this week he decided he wanted to swim across the spokane river. I watched him go he went about half way turned chicken n came back. About 15 min later--he took off again.. i decided to cheer him on.. he got thru the confusion zone where caution n desire meet. he took off for the farshore and made it. He shook himself off, ran up river--and plunged back into the river. And swam back all triumphant... When we got home-- their was a shut off notice for my utilities..oh great! and then my water pump whent out on my van. OOh there,s more--suffice to say I,m getting over my whinning snievling and feeling sorry for myself all at one time! the problems will be solved--one by one. In the mean time I thank Jesus Christ for his blessings on our lives.
