a little about the 40,s

if u were born in the 40,s u listened to wind up music on the victrola, your first radio listening to nitetime shows "the shadow knows" and others, a really good time to be a kid. Every one adopted a dad-less kid. in my case my uncle stan took me fishing. the greatest fisherman ever. He took my sisters out and caught 40 bass, filled the trunk ..amazing!! my uncle Clem was my unknown spiritual mentor. He was full blood lakota Sioux.. He use to make indian fry bread in the morning on a two burner wood stove..later they got electricity. But i know how to correctly cook on a wood stove, and how to manage a campfire.. I,ve always missed him.. We went shoeless , all summer long, fishing, swimming and poking around. Not a care in the world..
I think,my uncle Stan taught me how to think-he was an engineer.  My uncle Clem shaped my heart, my feelings, the final decsion.
I worried about polio..one year everyone was getting polio, it was really scary.  I couldn,,t get into line fast enough to get vaccinated..there was wooping cough, diptheria, and chicken pox.  I think i got it,it was bad but u survived..Polio was awful!--to watch your friends go from total mobility to a lung,a wheel chair and finally, metal contraptions to walk.  I,ve never been so scared..that one summer, before the vaccine.

Concerning the Spokane Utilities department

My Prayer and entreaty

Lord, here my prayer.

Smit my enemies

Put their  roofs into their  basments

Turn them into ruble heeps

Pack their water lines with sediment

Fill their sewer lines with sludge

Let them live in there ruble Holas

Like prairie dogs

LORD,   Here my prayer

Consider my entreaty

I await your judgement

Lord

mushrooms along the river

Went out for mushrooms--about killed myself--trying to get them. The quarry was oyster mushrooms , which are shelf mushrooms and grow on trees, the tree in question was laying against a steep bank covered in maple leaves, which are deadly..if you walk on them (leaves) you will soon find yourself sliding out of control.. I of course-after last years exp--decided to slid on my butt--The mushrooms eyed my machete--it was only a meat clever--as i prepared to free them from their bondage---ingrates! i made a couple of cuts-getting the whole spray of mushrooms. i carefully placed them in my bag.. suddenly i started to slid-under a dead tree limb..my cap went here my gloves there.. the ...knife..disappeared into the pile of leaves and broken limbs.. using a stick to stir the pile i soon found my clever. Then climbing up the 10 feet and bracing myself against another fallen tree, i soon picked the remainder i could get too. I,m not crazy yaknow.. My plan--Yes,i do have plans..was to slide down to the river, rather than try and go up the hill,. the river is low and bank is available..but in the process of sliding down thge 30 ft--thru tangles and briars..Rocky managed to get is rear foot caught--he started yelping--but there was nothing i could do..he finally freed himself--but he,s limping tonite. we walked down the riverbank to a place where there are steps..The very steps i warned two women about being careful of the leaves..The one that went down--fell.. Listen Grasshopper to the old man.. Postscript: Im getting stronger , more agile and i can put my pants on one leg at a time ...well kinda..

Million Dollar ideas

I,m going to try and buy glasses on the internet. This got me thinking about the eye exam...would it be possible to use my computer, to give myself an eye exam and generate a prescription..This is a million dollar idea..waiting...
The other million $ idea involves urban fruit trees.. As everyone knows, i,m a back alley fruit picker.. I have noticed that almost all the fruit trees are out of shape and the fruit is inedible..but, by managing the tree properly, it will become fruitful. If you install the new asian way of bagging the fruit at thinning time. You can claim a percentage for yourself while leaving a portion to the homeowner and insect and animals.. You may also acquire a large, organic orchard of different fruit harvesting from june to oct.. Essentilly, you own a very large orchard using other peoples land..
You will becom a megga mega millionaire. U will build the largest estancia in the city--LOOking over your orchard.. You will be so successful, You will have your law office..Franchise your "Empire" idea across North America and the world!!! You will have lunch with other mogels--When You have time...Muwahahaha
I,m trying to use the power of the internet.. For example, I buy Viagra for less then a 1$ ea. And sell them for 5-7$ per..I get them directly from the manufacturer in India.. I was selling my dried mushrooms in portland but now i can sell them to wholesalers in hongkong, singapore et al for top dollar. I,m no longer beholden to the local buyer.. My "buyers" know that my num. ones are included with field run, which makes a good product..

Mushrooming in NW.

Rocky and I have been having a wonderful time in the woods.. We,ve been picking Boleteus Edulus..AKA King Bolete.. The darling of french cuisine...I,ve been picking about 10 to 15 #,s/ day. I,m drying them all.. in the spring i pick morels and dry them .. Last year Holly and I sold our morels at christmas.. I think we got one hundred eighty dollars this year.. by adding my boletes we might tripple the value..Makes for a great goal and great eating and a fun christmas
Boletes, like other mushrooms have a preferred micro habitat. Most mushrooms grow in edge habitats which may be only 1 to 3 feet wide and going maybe 10 feet.. in the case of boletes they like to grow on a grasy, slope.,where it is dry but close to mossy wet..I also believe that bollets "Like being stepped on" I always thought that puffballs use stepping on as they,re primary means of dispersal of their spores.. I didn,t know that large mushrooms use this technique also. Boletes have a short stem, compared to their width example say 2x6".... Large mushrooms need a lot of water close by.. boletes animals eat boletes and step on them. They,re color goes from off white--just breaking thru and then turn dark golden brown. when fully exposed. Boletes, are very visable when the edge is broken off,, thus advertising to being eaten.. at this stage.. Boletes are called stone mushrooms. because of their color shape and smoothness.. So, if you see me poking a rock...I,m not crazy, bolets are soft, rocks are hard.. When you poke a rock in a ditch and it gives--Aha! !
